MEET DR. LAUREN RANCE PSYD, LP

PSYCHOLOGIST IN MINNEAPOLIS, MN & ONLINE IN PSYPACT STATES

You’re here because you want to learn how to create a life that fits with the person you want to be. I’m here to walk alongside you on your journey.

Hi! My name is Lauren and I’m a licensed clinical psychologist in the Twin Cities. I opened Aware Psychology & Wellness with the goal to provide individualized, excellent psychological services to clients motivated to make real and lasting changes in their lives.

The work I do is meaningful to me both professionally and personally. I have served children, adolescents, adults, and families for almost a decade in the Minneapolis area, through my work at a local medical center and in a group therapy practice. I have also navigated my own life changes related to parenting and balancing the demands of work and family life.

Across my experiences, I have found particular passion and expertise working with individuals navigating concerns related to ADHD, anxiety, and relationship stressors. In graduate school, I enjoyed working in an ADHD lab which allowed me to do research and provide clinical care (therapy and assessment) to individuals struggling with ADHD symptoms. Since that time, I have found passion and continuously developed my expertise in providing individual therapy for children, teens, and adults struggling to manage ADHD symptoms.

Through my clinical work, I have also developed expertise in treating day-to-day anxiety, anxiety in social situations, anxiety in crowds or speaking in front of others, and OCD-type symptoms. I enjoy helping individuals find strategies to overcome anxious symptoms and discover more joy and peace in day-to-day life.

Lastly, through my extensive work with families, I have developed a deep understanding of how our early relationships with caregivers can impact us as adults. I understand that all relationships can be incredibly rewarding, as well as incredibly challenging at times. I am passionate about creating a non-judgmental environment for clients to explore strategies to create stronger and healthier relationships. I especially enjoy working with parents and children to create more emotionally connected relationships and working with adults in individual therapy to explore and create healthier patterns in relationships (romantic relationships, friendships, etc.).

I feel strongly about my own self-improvement through day-to-day action and am passionate about working with others walking similar paths.

AM I THE RIGHT THERAPIST FOR YOU?

At the core of my approach to therapy is a belief that you are an expert on you.

You want someone who is perceptive, curious, and will pick up on the nuances of your life.  You might identify yourself or your child as a “deep feeler” or “deep thinker” and not always feel as if you fit in with other people.

You want a therapist who will take the time to understand you, create a compassionate environment where you feel safe to be yourself and make mistakes, and gently challenge beliefs and patterns that are no longer working for you.

my guiding principles

COMPASSION

I will model compassion for you as an individual each session and help you learn how to be more compassionate with yourself.

AWARENESS

I will increase awareness by helping you gain new insights about yourself.  I believe that every person is doing the best they can with the skills they have.  Thus, increased awareness is the foundation for positive change.

GROWTH

Lastly, with compassion, awareness, and connection as a foundation, we will begin to see growth and change.

CONNECTION

I will create connections, first in the therapy room, and then outside of the therapy room.  You will be encouraged to connect with the people and activities that matter to you deep down.

CLIENTS DESCRIBE ME AS:

Knowledgable, comprehensive, & organized

In our first sessions, I share my initial impressions, diagnoses, and general treatment plan.  Many clients share that prior therapists have not given them such a comprehensive and organized plan for treatment in the past and very much appreciate this scaffolding of treatment.

Compassionate & intuitive

Clients share that I’m easy to talk to and that they found themselves sharing more than they expected and felt comfortable doing so.

I ask thought-provoking questions that will help you get to the answers for yourself, versus making recommendations that may or may not fit for you.  When directive feedback or recommendations are warranted, I ask permission to share suggestions and ask how these suggestions land for you.

As a child psychologist & parent coach…

Parents describe me as approachable, both for their children and themselves.

Kids haven’t formulated what they think of me as often (ha, ha), but they are often excited to come to my office. Parents have expressed surprise that their child warmed up to me as quickly as they did and note that their child seems to consider our conversations to be special and meaningful.

As a psychologist for teens…

Teens express gratitude about the clear expectations laid out about how much information will be shared with their parents and tend to be able to build rapport when given the opportunity to share about their friends, interests, hobbies, and passions by an adult who truly seems to care about who they are as a person.

Parents of teens often express relief that their teen has benefited from a confidant who is also monitoring their stability and helping learn tools to manage the hard parts of life.
